Clinical Supervisor

Goldie Unger, LCSW

As the clinical director of groups at DAAS, Goldie Unger, LCSW, leads sought-after somatic healing and codependency skill-based groups. She is also a clinical supervisor, creating protocol for DAAS clinicians. In addition to her work at DAAS, Goldie maintains a private practice where she specializes in the treatment of developmental trauma and issues of codependency.

Ruchie Szlafrok, LCSW

Ruchie Szlafrok, LCSW, brings a plethora of knowledge and experience to the DAAS team from her work in various mental health settings. Ruchie is a clinical supervisor at DAAS, supporting clinicians as they help their clients daily. In her private practice offices in Brooklyn and Monsey, Ruchie specializes in adolescents, adults, and couples. Through EFT, CBT, and other approaches, Ruchie helps her clients become better versions of themselves.

Shimon Abrams, LCSW

Shimon Abrams, LCSW

Shimon Abrams is a graduate of Long Island University where he obtained a masters in social work and a CASAC-T certification. He specializes in mood and anxiety disorders and provides evidence-based treatment with a focus on CBT, mindfulness, and exposure therapy. Shimon uses a strength-based approach in helping adolescents and adults manage emotional challenges. He has gained clinical skills during his employment at Rockland CBT under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Feiner Ph.D. Shimon joined Daas Wellness Center in 2017.

Sari Balsam, LMSW

Sarah Balsam, LMSW, joined DAAS in May 2018. She works in the school setting with elementary school students struggling with family issues, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. She offers parenting coaching via Zoom for her clients’ parents using gentle parenting methods. Her training includes somatic intervention and anxiety treatment. She also employs art therapy.

With DAAS since 2021, Motty Braun, LMSW, works with clients of all ages, specifically enjoying the adult population. He is competent in helping individuals who have experienced trauma or struggle with phobias. Motty passionately exercises IFS, somatic intervention, and sand therapy and has trained at IFS Institute.

Rivky obtained her Masters in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University. She’s currently practicing as a licensed Mental Health Counselor in Spring Valley, NY. Rivky is a deeply compassionate person who has a great passion to help individuals navigate challenges and complex life experiences. Her goal is to provide the opportunity for clients to find healing, to recognize and actualize their full potential, and achieve a meaningful, emotionally healthy, and fulfilling life. Rivky works with adults and teens who struggle with symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar, childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, and difficulties with relationships. Rivky utilizes a combination of approaches and modalities in accordance to client’s needs, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Inner Child Work (Pia Melody), ACT, and Narrative Therapy.

An intern at DAAS since September 2021, Perry Dirnfeld, MSW, enjoys helping children ages 5 to 14 deal with ADHD, anxiety, social anxiety, low self-esteem, and emotional regulation. She has an affinity for social skills coaching. Perry finds play therapy and sand tray therapy helpful in her sessions. Yiddish speaking.

Shiran Fogel, MSW, brings a wealth of life experience, which shaped her humanistic approach to helping individuals struggling with anxiety, ptsd and depression, as well as life and relationship challenges. Shiran is a bilingual Hebrew & English speaker, educated at Bar Ilan University and Wurtzweiler School of Social Work, and uses her background to help clients find fulfillment, healing, and potential within themselves.

Aron Friesel, LMSW, is on the DAAS team since its inception, besides running a private practice. He specializes in adolescents, adults and couples therapy. Many of the clients he sees suffer from anxiety, OCD, self-esteem, and trauma. Aron practices with a range of modalities, having experience in CBT, ACT, RBT exposure, EMDR, and EFT. Esther Friedland, LMSW, joined our team at Daas Wellness Center in 2020. She works with all ages - children, adolescents, and adults - and her specialty is within the area of trauma. Esther provides evidence-based treatment with a particular focus on a strength-based approach. She trained in CBT, Trauma focused CBT, DBT, and IFS.

Perel Grossman, LMSW

Perel Grossman earned her master’s degree in social work from Wurzweiler School of Social Work. In addition to her work at Daas, she practices in Brooklyn, where she also facilitates a DBT skills group. Perel is an adjunct professor at Mount St. Vincent College in the Sara Schenirer program. She treats teens and women of all ages, with a focus on anxiety, complex PTSD, and relationship challenges.

Licensed in June 2021, Elliot Halpert, LMSW, is a staff therapist at DAAS. He works with adult males who are at a crossroads of who they are and who they wish to be. Mark (Moishe) Menzelefsky, LCSW, has been with DAAS since 2018. He works with children and adolescents, ages 6 to 21, who are diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and ADHD, and coaches their parents to assist with application. He effectively handles anxiety in clients using the CBT-exposure model. Educating parents and creating a growth-oriented environment round out the coping and organizational skills implemented with ADHD clients. His training includes CBT, exposure therapy, ADHD, ACT and IFS.

Shira Rosenberg, LMHC-LP, joined DAAS in 2019, with two years of prior experience. She sees females, ages 18 and up, with anxiety and stress-related disorders and relationship or attachment issues. Her approach is integrative, encompassing snippets from multiple modalities including mindfulness, inner child work, EMDR, ACT, CBT, IFS, and motivational interviewing. She customizes her approach for each client and will pivot on a session-bysession basis as necessary. Certified in EMDR.

She works with high school girls, older singles and women of all ages, as well as couples. She is passionate about helping her clients create better lives for themselves by reaching deeply into their innate strengths, and processing past trauma and present difficulties. She trained in EMDR, IFS, DBT, and EFT Level 1.
